IN THE QUIET OF THE SNOW by Jane Holden, Acrylic on Birch, 6” x 6”, https://holdenartstudio.ca/2025-new-paintings/
In the quiet of the snow I strolled slowly along the field, something captivating caught my eye. When I tried to capture it with my camera it was elusive, my vision couldn’t be captured. I felt a pang of disappointment but I kept walking along the path. My feet pushed the freshly fallen snow down with each step. It was beautifully quiet after the snowfall, I felt embraced in peace by the snow. On the last part of my path as I turned to walk west up along the field there it was, the elusive vision. I quickly snapped a reference photo and felt a huge relief as I knew right there in that moment that it was a painting.
The snow has filled my heart this winter season and I love painting winter compositions.
