A selection of abstract paintings from when I was exploring the relationships of colour. Garden Paintings were made from the essence of colour and light observed in a beautiful established cottage garden from my childhood, this is where I was living at the time. These paintings were made throughout the years when I was learning to live with chronic illness, my abilities were significantly limited and I was living housebound often only looking at the gardens through the windows.
I couldn’t use a computer, I couldn’t write with a pen and I couldn’t paint. I did nothing for months at a time other than rest in quiet. Around two years in, I began to use some modified art materials. And in time I put my mind toward making a series of paintings using small wood panels with acryla gouache. I could only manage abstract compositions using colour as my subject due to limited mobility and restrictions on my time. These paintings have greatly informed my 2026 body of work.
